The “Monopoly Lifesized: Travel Edition” tour will launch in Denver in October. (Provided by Monopoly Lifesized)
A life-size version of Monopoly will begin its “Travel Edition” tour in Denver this fall, marking its U.S. debut after a popular run in London. The escape-room-style experience replaces the Scottish dogs, toy cars and industrialists that usually populate the game board in the real estate fortune game, which was first introduced in 1935.
They roll dice and play aspects of the game while walking through immersive rooms and activities. “You’ll be guided by your own personified Monopoly token as you and your team solve challenges on a giant Monopoly board,” the producers wrote in a statement. “By successfully solving challenges, you’ll unlock your chances to buy property, collect rent, and escape from prison!”
And while you do, a full bar will be at your disposal. All shows will take place indoors at the DCPA Off-Center at Broadway Park, 407 S. Broadway in Denver.
Tickets for the show, which runs from October 22, 2024, to January 5, 2025, and will be sponsored by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, are on sale for $38.25 to $45 at denvercenter.org/tickets-events/monopoly . The good news? The show is limited to an hour, which is in stark contrast to the amount of time it often takes to play (seriously, just send me to jail).
Public hours for this capitalist fantasy experience are 4pm-8:15pm Tuesday through Thursday, 2pm-8:45pm Friday, 10am-8:45pm Saturday, and 10am-7:30pm Sunday (closed Monday). Players 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
