Celebes: A 30 year old man at Indonesia In search of his missing wife, he opened a piece of wood 30 to 30 feet long python Adiansa, 36, left her home to buy medicine for her sick child but never returned. Worried about her whereabouts, Adiansa followed her route through the forest and discovered her slippers and pants about 500 meters from their home in the village of Siteba, AFP reported.
According to The Sun, Adiansa also saw his legs sticking out of the python’s mouth. He immediately informed local forestry authorities before killing the reptile and cutting it open to discover his wife’s body inside. The disturbing video of the aftermath of the tragedy has surfaced online, showing the dead snake surrounded by authorities and villagers.
“Soon after, he spotted a snake about 10 meters from the path. The snake was still alive,” local police chief Idul told the news agency. The python had attacked Siriati in the forest, crushed her to death by constriction and swallowed her whole.
Village secretary Iyang recounted how Adiansa called for help from other villagers to cut open the snake’s stomach. Inside, they found the body of the missing woman, the second fatal python attack in the province in a month.
Such incidents are rare, but last month, another woman was found dead inside a reticulated python in another district of South Sulawesi. A year ago, villagers killed an eight-meter-long python after it strangled and devoured a farmer. In 2018, a 54-year-old woman was found dead inside a seven-meter-long python in the town of Muna in southeast Sulawesi. The year before, a farmer in West Sulawesi was found inside a four-meter-long python on a palm oil plantation after he went missing.
