Barcelona will host the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, the Louis Vuitton Cup, the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup and the Puig Women’s America’s Cup from late August to October 2024.
In addition, the Premier Regatta Series, organised by Real Club Naútico Barcelona in collaboration with the America’s Cup Event (ACE), will bring together some of the world’s most famous yachts and classes racing in the Mediterranean alongside the AC75 and AC40 competitions.
The Premier Series kicks off with the famous Puig Vela Clàssica in Barcelona from 4th to 7th September, which always attracts the cream of classic yachts competing on the Mediterranean and world circuits.
Racing will be held in the following categories: Vintage Gaff Rig, Vintage Bermudan Rig, Classic, IOR Classic, Large and Modern Classic Boats, 12m and J Class Boats.
Organizers are announcing the presence of fifteen 12-metre yachts that competed in the America’s Cup from 1958 to 1987. The J Class Association hopes to attract up to four of these incredible, perfectly restored classic yachts.
The J Class will also host a regatta in Barcelona as part of the Premier Series from October 7-11. This means the boats will be in town throughout the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup for spectators to come and see history on the water.
The Premier Regatta Series will also welcome the Smeralda 888 fleet, which competes at various Mediterranean venues throughout the summer in a highly competitive circuit. Designed by naval architect German Frers, these 8.88-metre yachts attract some of the world’s best one-design sailors and compete in incredibly close fleet racing. The Smeralda 888 Regatta will take place from 6-8 September 2024.
Continuing the Premier Regatta series, the Real Club Naútico Barcelona will host the Maxi Regatta from 25 to 29 September, before the Superyacht Regatta from 4 to 6 October. It is expected to attract some of the world’s most glamorous yachts, categorised between 91 and 110 feet for Class A and 70 to 90 feet for Class B.
