- Whoopi Goldberg says she wasn’t bothered by Joe Biden’s latest debate with Donald Trump.
- “I always have shitty days. I step in so much shit you can’t imagine,” he said Monday.
- Goldberg said people should give Biden a chance and wait for his follow-up debate with Trump.
President Joe Biden’s gaffes and mistakes may have sparked calls for him to drop out of the race, but Whoopi Goldberg says she still supports the 81-year-old.
“I don’t care if he shits his pants. I don’t care if he can’t put a sentence together,” the host of ABC’s “The View” said on an episode that aired Monday. “Show him that he can’t do his job and then I’ll say, OK, maybe it’s time to go.”
Goldberg, 68, said people should give Biden a second chance despite his poor showing in his presidential debate with former President Donald Trump on June 27.
“I always have shit days. I step in so much shit you can’t imagine. Now, I don’t run the world, but I don’t know anyone who hasn’t stepped in something at some point,” Goldberg added.
But the failure in their second debate appeared to be an unacceptable threshold for Goldberg, who said she would stop supporting Biden if he failed again. The next Trump-Biden debate is set for September 10.
“So, I just said, yeah, there are two debates. And if he can’t do what he needs to do for the second debate, I’ll join any crew that says get rid of him,” Goldberg continued.
The Democratic presidential nominee faced calls to withdraw following last month’s presidential debate, but Biden has repeatedly dismissed concerns about his age and mental acuity.
On Monday, Biden sent a letter to Democratic members of Congress in which he reiterated his plans to remain in the race.
“The question of how to move forward has been well and truly raised for more than a week now. And it’s time to end it,” Biden wrote. “Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead will only benefit Trump and hurt us.”
“It is time for us to come together, move forward as a united party, and defeat Donald Trump,” the letter continued.
Biden’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI sent outside regular business hours.
