Based in Boston Uwill, a mental health platform for universities and students, announced it has acquired Virtual Care Group, a telehealth and wellness support platform also focused on students.
Uwill partners with universities to provide students with on-demand virtual access to licensed therapists and service providers trained in crisis counseling. Students can also participate in online wellness events through the company’s mental health and wellness app. The company partners with 300 institutions across 50 states and 40 countries.
Los Angeles-based Virtual Care Group offers a matching platform that connects students, faculty, and staff in need of health and wellness support with providers. The platform is now in place at more than 100 universities.
With the acquisition of Virtual Care Group, Uwill has expanded its reach to 400 colleges and universities around the world.
“This acquisition marks a major milestone for the digital mental health field in higher education,” Virtual Care Group founder and CEO Danny Zussman said in a statement. “By combining our extensive national reach with Uwill’s focused technology investments, we aim to enhance the support and resources provided to the students, faculty and staff we serve.”
