Minister of Human Resources Ida Fauzia said the Indonesian government is committed to strengthening labor cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. The issue was discussed during a meeting with Chinese Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Wang Xiaoping in Beijing on July 3, 2024.
“Indonesia and China already have close cooperative relations in various fields. This visit aims to further focus on strengthening labor cooperation between the two countries,” Foreign Minister Ida said in a statement on Thursday (4/7).
Ida noted that discussions during the visit included the development of the Labor Market Information System (LMIS), vocational training, strengthening Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards, improving the Indonesian National Labor Competency Standard (SKKNI), and entrepreneurship development.
She also said that in terms of vocational training, the Ministry of Manpower is currently exploring several collaborations with the Chinese government, including the development of the Sofifi Vocational Productivity Training Center (BPVP) Ternate with a grant from China, and the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Indonesia in cooperation with China International Intelligence Group Co. Ltd. (CIIC Group).
“We hope that in the future, this exploratory visit will provide valuable insights and benefits in building labor cooperation in Indonesia,” she said.
