2024 American Youth Cultural Travel Exchange Event to be held in Dongying
DONGYING, China, July 10, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recently, 16 young people from Midland and other sister cities in the United States undertook a 10-day exchange event in Dongying, Shandong Province. The event was very fruitful for them. They said that the trip to Dongying allowed them to deeply experience the unique charm of Chinese culture and the hospitality and friendliness of the Chinese people.
Organized by Dongying Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, Dongying Municipality carefully planned a wide variety of research and learning activities, cultural experiences, outdoor explorations and exchange programs to ensure the success of the event. At Dongying Municipal Youth Model Comprehensive Practice Base, participants learned how to make shadow puppets and were enchanted by the charm of traditional Chinese folk arts. In the ancient streets and long alleys, participants experienced the traditional techniques of intangible cultural heritage such as sugar painting and clay dolls, and tasted authentic Dongying cuisine. At the Yellow River Estuary Ecological Tourism Area, participants were amazed by the sight of the yellow and blue rivers merging and rare birds flying freely. At Sun Tzu Cultural Park, participants embarked on a cultural journey to explore ancient wisdom. At Dongying Art Museum, participants viewed traditional Chinese crafts such as tie-dyeing, and in the evening, participants gathered at Lancui Lake Tourist Resort to watch the passionate performances of the Wenhui River Music Festival.
As the event drew to a close, participants used their brushes to create artworks full of emotion and stories. They used their brushstrokes to record what they saw, heard and felt in Dongying during the 10 days, integrating Dongying’s culture, history and cuisine into their paintings. The paintings not only represent Dongying in the participants’ eyes, but also serve as a testament to the participants’ deep emotional connection to the place.
