Jamal Jones becomes chair of The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section
Jamal R. Jones has been appointed chairman of The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section.
“I am committed to advancing the interests of our members and addressing the changing challenges we face as health care law professionals,” Jones said. “I look forward to fostering a more inclusive and dynamic environment for all legal professionals in this field.”
Jones, the first Black attorney to hold the position, has planned an agenda that includes a new “Top 20 Under 40” health law section membership program, out-of-state retreats, statewide networking events, “Life in the Life of a Health Law Attorney” presentations at law schools to promote the section’s revamped mentorship program, increased social media engagement, recognition of section member milestones and monthly email blasts.
Mr. Jones is the founder and principal attorney of Jones Health Law PA, with offices in Miami, Nashville and Washington, D.C. Mr. Jones represents healthcare providers and facilities in health care transactional, regulatory compliance and licensing matters. He is a former clerk in the Florida Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, where he assisted with fraud and abuse cases.
Mr. Jones is admitted to practice law in Florida, Tennessee, Washington, DC, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, and is an active member of the ABA Health Care Law Section and the American Association of Health Care Lawyers.
Jones has also been featured in publications such as: Newsweek, Becker Hospital Reviewand Lawyer magazineand regularly contributes academic articles on health care law. His commitment to education is evident from his YouTube page and podcast, “Jones Health Law,” where he discusses health care law issues and interviews health care practitioners. He has also spoken and presented at various academic institutions, including the Florida Department of Health and the Health Professions Divisions at FAMU and Nova Southeastern University.
The Health Law Section is dedicated to supporting the health law practitioner throughout the state. The Section provides an avenue to communicate with and educate others to further improve health law practice. The Health Law Section also assists the public and The Florida Bar by addressing the needs and goals of professionals in the field of health law. Section activities include updating case law, providing easy access to health law attorney client alerts and newsletters, recording meetings of the numerous county and local health law associations throughout the state, and publishing CLE papers and other informational documents. The Section is organized into divisions and standing committees and is governed by an Executive Committee.
