JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said it is still working on the Indonesia Quality Tourism Fund (IQTF) program. “The process of this donation fund for tourism is still ongoing,” ministry official Nia Niskaya said on Monday.
She said the IQTF’s total cost will be around 2 trillion rupiah ($123.5 million) and will be funded from the 2025 national budget.
The IQTF will be used to support tourism events that can attract international tourists to the country.
Currently, the government is working on regulations to support quality tourism in Indonesia.
Earlier, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said on Monday that after attending an internal meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the president had instructed to allocate Rp2 trillion for the IQTF program.
Uno added that President Joko Widodo had asked ministries and agencies to complete relevant regulations by August 2024.
The IQTF is an endowment fund program designed to support tourism activities that have the potential to attract tourists, increase tourist visitation, and promote economic growth in destinations.
