Indonesia seeks to attract more Chinese tourists
According to Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Indonesia aims to attract more Chinese tourists and aims to welcome 1 million to 1.5 million Chinese tourists in 2024.
The minister told Vietnam Plus that China has urged tourism companies to step up tour packages to Indonesia, especially to top priority destinations, to promote the country’s natural advantages and cultural identity.
Besides Bali, Indonesia is promoting five other top priority tourist destinations – Borobudur, Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo and Mandalika, the minister told reporters and Chinese tourism companies in Shanghai on June 28.
Laos allows Thai border pass holders to extend stays and travel further
In a bid to attract more tourists, Laos has extended the stay of Thai nationals using border passes and allowed them to travel outside their entry points from July 1 until the end of the year.
Thai tourists with a border pass or temporary border pass can now stay in Laos for 10 days, and can also travel to two neighbouring provinces, according to the Bangkok Post. Previously, stays were limited to three days in the province of entry.
Thai border pass holders “must also use the services of Lao travel agencies registered with the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.”
The Thai Embassy in Laos posted a link on its Facebook page for Thai nationals to check out travel agencies approved by the ministry, and said the relaxed rules would only apply until the end of December when tourism promotions end.
DHSUD notes Philippine private sector confidence in housing programs “growing”
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has observed “growing confidence” from the private sector in the government’s flagship program, the For Filipino Public Housing Development Program (4PH).
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizzarino-Aqzar said Megawide Construction Corp.’s entry into the 4PH project in Imas City, Cavite is an example of the government’s confidence in its housing program.
“The confidence 4PH has received from the private sector is overwhelming. This clearly indicates that we are on the right path in addressing the country’s housing needs,” he said in a PNA news release.
