Ralph Lauren Corporation issued a statement on Tuesday in response to recent media reports in Indonesia regarding a dispute surrounding PT Mangala Putra Perkasa, which operates under the confusing name “Polo Ralph Lauren Indonesia.”
“We want to be clear that we have no affiliation or relationship with Ralph Lauren and that Ralph Lauren is not involved in these disputes,” the company said in a statement.
PT Mangara Putra Perkasa also established a subsidiary called “PT Polo Ralph Lauren Indonesia”.
Currently, Ralph Lauren does not operate any direct stores in Indonesia, nor has it authorized any partners or dealers to operate “Polo Ralph Lauren” or other “Ralph Lauren” branded stores in Indonesia. To meet consumer demand in Indonesia, Ralph Lauren products are sold only through select third-party retailers.
Ralph Lauren said it intends to take all necessary steps to protect its copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights.
“We recognize that these trademarks and names may cause confusion. As part of our efforts to provide authentic products and experiences to consumers in the region, Ralph Lauren is committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure that copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights are not infringed,” the company added.
