Hesperia, California (VVNG.com) — A previously convicted felon was arrested in possession of a loaded gun and then released on bail, according to public jail records.
On July 21, 2024, at approximately 11:26 p.m., officers with the Hesperia Police Department responded to the Pilot Travel Center for a report of a man with a weapon.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gloria Huerta said when deputies arrived on scene they found the suspect on the side of the building.
The suspect is, Michael Rondale VaughnA 37-year-old Hesperia man was detained and a vehicle search was conducted.
During the search, officers found a loaded magazine and a 9mm handgun in the vehicle. A records check revealed that Vaughn had a previous felony conviction and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Vaughn was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He was charged with PC 29800(A)(1) Felony in Possession of a Firearm and held on $30,000 bail.
Vaughn was released on bail the following day and is not currently scheduled to appear in court, records show.
