Rubio, Colleague: “Dictator Nicolas Maduro stole the presidential election again”
Yesterday, the Venezuelan people voted in an election that was questionable from the start and was neither free nor fair.
U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), John Kennedy (R-LA), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Peter Welch (D-VT), Rick Scott (R-FL), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Tim Scott (R-SC), and U.S. Representatives Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Jennifer Gonzalez Colon (R-PU), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) issued a joint statement after the criminal and illegitimate Maduro narco-regime declared victory in this fraudulent presidential election.
- “In a surprise to no one, dictator Nicolas Maduro has once again stolen a presidential election. But what the narco-regime can never steal is the desire of the Venezuelan people to return to democracy and live in freedom after decades of oppression. We must unite the free world in rejecting this fraudulent election result and making it a priority to secure the release of more than 300 Venezuelans who are being arbitrarily detained in torture centers as political prisoners.”
- “The Maduro dictatorship is experiencing internal divisions and its members know that the status quo, riddled with incompetence, can no longer be sustained. There is great discontent in the streets of Venezuela and ordinary citizens support the opposition leaders Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo Gonzalez. There can be no doubt: the countries and international organizations that are supporting this fraud on an unimaginable scale must be held accountable, as must the members of the narco-regime and its ‘National Electoral Council’.”
