Reece spoke about how hard it was for him to take the news on The Unplanned Podcast: “When I told Will that Charlie had been cut, he said, ‘Oh Reece, that was your best friend, but there’s 36 people on the team…’ and I said, ‘Yeah, but I’m heartbroken right now.'”
“It’s hard to accept,” she added. “It’s something I’ve never experienced before. I feel devastated, blessed and a little guilty. It feels strange.” The pair remain close friends, and Charlie attended Reese and Will’s wedding.
She used her newfound fame to spread her faith.
One of the first revelations on the show was Reese’s faith, as the cheerleader opened up about her self-image issues in middle school, saying she found herself thanks to her “relationship with Jesus.”
“I firmly believe that my relationship with Christ has got me where I am today,” she said through tears. In July, Reese shared a photo on her Instagram where she spoke to students at Student Leadership College in Florida, which offers “opportunities for young believers to develop into effective leaders,” according to the college’s website. Her Instagram profile includes a quote from Matthew 5:16, which reads, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.”
She commented on the issue of salaries for Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
