A Louisiana father and son decorated their home with a huge American flag to celebrate the Fourth of July.
John Beard and his son Jayden draped the colossal Old Glory over their home to show their patriotism.
The 50-foot, 60-pound flag was a gift from a Navy veteran who served four tours in Iraq.
The Beards didn’t have a flagpole tall enough to display the giant Old Glory, so they meticulously placed it on their house.
“It’s very emotional for me. We love our country, that’s all. I just hope that one day on the Fourth of July, everyone can come together and remember America,” John told WBRZ.

“A ladder, a rope and a hoist, and you take it up there, lay it across, then unfold it, put it up there and secure it, trying to be as respectful as possible to the flag.”
The Navy veteran who gave them the flag gave it to them as a parting gift when the family moved from Tennessee to Louisiana.
“We’re really good friends. He had the flag and he wanted to do something with it but didn’t know what to do with it. So actually, my son said we should put it on the house, so we did,” John said.
Jayden told Fox & Friends that he helped him and his father with the project.
John said the community response has been mostly positive, but some people have complained online about their display.

“They were all for it,” Jayden said. “I’m very happy [love my country]and I agree with my father’s choice, what he does to cover the house.
“The flag really represents my freedom, the freedom of expression of everyone to be able to hang that flag without any repercussions.”

“Everyone in our neighborhood loves it, it’s absolutely phenomenal. There’s been a little bit of resistance online,” John said.
