New York Institute of Technology has appointed Jaishankar Ganesh as dean of its School of Business Administration.
As Dean, Ganesh will provide academic, administrative, strategic and financial leadership for the School of Business at NYIT. His responsibilities will include managing and generating new resources for the School; enhancing its visibility and reputation through external stakeholder engagement; recruiting, developing and retaining faculty; overseeing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum review; and working closely with faculty to support a culture of student success across all School of Business programs on the New York City, Long Island and Vancouver campuses.
“New York Institute of Technology expresses its strong identity as a technical university rooted in a central center of business, finance and commerce,” Dr. Jerry Ballentine, president and vice chancellor, said in a news release about Ganesh’s appointment.
“We welcome Jay’s expertise and leadership as we define a compelling new identity and value proposition for the School of Business,” Valentin added.
Ganesh joins NYU from Rutgers University-Camden Business School, where he served as dean and professor of marketing in 2010 and served as dean until 2019. At Rutgers, he expanded the business school’s programs. These initiatives included launching undergraduate and graduate programs, creating two online degree programs, expanding faculty support for research, and fostering relationships with the business community. During his tenure at Rutgers, Ganesh doubled enrollment and more than quadrupled total revenue. He also led the university through two successful AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) continuous improvement reviews and led the university’s process for Middle States accreditation.
At NYIT, Ganesh will be responsible for steering and expanding the School of Business, focusing on faculty and student experience, securing ACCSB reaccreditation, developing new programs, identifying and delivering on what employers are looking for in knowledge workers, strengthening corporate partnerships, and “enhancing the value of the School of Business for students.”
Earlier in his career, Ganesh served as Associate Dean in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida for six years, where his roles included oversight of research, graduate and doctoral programs, and executive education. He became an Assistant Professor in the Marketing Department and then an Associate Professor of Marketing. He was also a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Departments at the University of Houston.
Ganesh holds a PhD in Marketing and International Business and an MBA in International Business from the University of Houston.
