Nvidia’s AI chips are a ‘huge bottleneck’, but that doesn’t mean it needs to act as a regulator, says EU
European Union Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager warned of a “huge bottleneck” in the supply of Nvidia Corp.’s AI chips, but said watchdogs were still deciding what, if anything, to do about it. “We have asked them questions, but this is just the beginning,” she told Bloomberg during a trip to Singapore. For now, it does not “meet the criteria of a regulatory measure.” Nvidia has drawn scrutiny from regulators since it became the biggest beneficiary of the surge in spending on artificial intelligence. Its graphics processing units, or GPUs, are prized by data center operators for their ability to process…

But, as the old Soviet joke goes: “You may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you.” We believe that bad government policies are now the number one threat to small tech. We believe that American technological supremacy and the essential role that small technology startups play in ensuring that supremacy is as much a political issue as any other. It’s time to stand up for Little Tech. Our political efforts as a…
Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party suffered a monumental, era-defining defeat at Thursday’s general election. Here in the U.K., we all knew it was coming. The polls in the run-up to the day itself suggested that the Tories were as much as 20 points behind Labour. But even so, the scale of what happened last night is eye-popping. The Tories won the smallest number of seats since the Tory Party came into being in 1832, a truly staggering failure to drum up enthusiasm for any more Conservative rule. They hold just 121 seats, having lost 252 since the last general election, compared…
