Bagel’s GPU Resttaking™ will make decentralized AI as efficient and cost-effective as centralized AI infrastructure
TORONTO, July 8, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Bagel, an AI and cryptography research lab, today announced its collaboration with the Filecoin Foundation, an organization that supports the governance, development, and growth of the Filecoin ecosystem. This collaboration allows AI developers to train and store their models using the Filecoin network’s compute and storage power through Bagel’s GPU Resttaking™ technology. Previously, Filecoin storage providers (SPs) were limited to a binary choice between providing their resources to storage or compute networks, limiting the protocol’s ability to serve AI developers. Bagel pioneered GPU Resttaking™, a decentralized compute network aggregator, which will revolutionize how Filecoin SPs operate, allowing them to leverage both their storage and compute resources through Bagel’s decentralized machine learning (ML) platform.
With Bagel’s ML platform, AI developers can access the Filecoin storage provider network to handle large AI workloads. At the same time, Filecoin storage providers will be able to dynamically allocate GPUs to the most cost-effective computing networks. Through this collaboration between Bagel and the Filecoin Foundation, AI developers can train their models where their data resides, reducing the burden on AI workloads on decentralized networks. Additionally, it addresses the critical challenge of data storage and retrieval, providing AI developers with unprecedented flexibility and efficiency. Bagel is now one of the leading DePIN projects in the AI space, marking a pivotal moment for decentralized artificial intelligence.
Bagel’s integration brings a range of compelling benefits for Filecoin SPs:
-
Increased revenue through monetization of storage and computing resources.
-
Efficient use of computing resources thanks to Bagel’s dynamic routing capabilities.
-
Accelerated adoption by providing a complete solution for storing and processing ML workloads.
The past year has seen a marked increase in interest in the intersection of Web3 and AI. A February 2024 report from TenSquared revealed that by the end of 2023, there were over 6.9,000 blockchain and AI-related Github repositories and over 539,000 Github pull requests. The integration of Bagel and the Filecoin network will provide the foundational infrastructure needed to serve this growing industry.
“The future of AI is decentralized, open source, and credibly neutral. As a leading provider of decentralized infrastructure, the Filecoin network is ideal for Bagel to enable decentralized machine learning by optimizing AI workload latency,” said Bidhan Roy, Founder and CEO of Bagel.net.
“We are excited that Bagel Network is leveraging Filecoin’s unique qualities to advance the frontier of decentralized AI,” said Danny O’Brien, Senior Fellow of the Filecoin Foundation“Filecoin’s decentralized storage solutions and Bagel’s edge computing network aggregator provide a robust and efficient platform for hosting and processing AI workloads. This collaboration demonstrates that Filecoin is a key primitive in the rapidly evolving AI and Web3 landscape, driving innovation and delivering value to storage providers and Filecoin network users.”
Bagel will officially begin beta testing with Filecoin storage providers on July 17, 2024. Users can sign up for early access here.
