Barcelona have finished their business in the summer transfer market and there will be no more signings or departures unless there is an unexpected last-minute change in the market, according to various reports in the Catalan media.
The deadline is Friday night, but the club will not make any signings due to Financial Fair Play issues and are also unsure of receiving offers for their current players before the deadline, so sporting director Deco will not be as busy as usual in the final hours of the transfer window.
Barça tried to strike a deal with Liverpool for midfielder Stefan Bajcetic on Wednesday to replace the injured Marc Bernal, and there were rumours of a €20m bid to Bayer Leverkusen for centre-back Jonathan Tah. However, both deals fell through, and Hansi Flick will have to stick with his current squad until January.
Only an unlikely deal with Nike in the next few hours or a cash injection by another sponsor would allow Barça a chance of signing the new player and registering him in time, and there is no interest from other clubs in any current squad members other than Eric García, who was a target for Girona before suffering a foot injury that likely scuppered any chances of a deal.
So with their business most likely done, here’s what Barça did in the summer market:
Arrival: Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig, €55 million), Pau Víctor (Girona, €3 million).
Departure: Marc Guiu (Chelsea, €6 million), Estanis Pedrola (Sampdoria, €3 million), Julian Araujo (Bournemouth, €10 million), Mika Faye (Rennes, €10 million), Oriol Romeu (Girona, loan), Vitor Roque (Real Betis, loan), Clément Lenglet (Atlético Madrid, loan), Álex Valle (Celtic, loan), Ilkay Gündogan (Manchester City, free), Sergiño Dest (PSV Eindhoven, free), Marcos Alonso (Celta Vigo, free ), Sergi Roberto (Like, free).
