Business leaders across the US reacted with shock, sadness and prayers over the assassination attempt former President Trump during a campaign rally Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump was grazed by a bullet that pierced his upper right ear after he turned to the right while addressing the crowd from a podium at the event. One attendee, Corey Comperatore, was killed in the shooting while two other rally attendees were wounded.
The shooter, who has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by law enforcement officers. Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.

Apple CEO Tim Cook
Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I pray for President Trump’s speedy recovery. My thoughts are with him, the other victims, and the Trump family. I strongly condemn this violence.”
Entrepreneur Mark Cuban
Cuban, a billionaire investor and longtime Trump critic, wrote in a post on X soon after the assassination attempt that he hoped “the former President is OK and no one else got hurt” and that authorities would “catch the fool who did this. This is not the way.” He also thanked “the Secret Service who put themselves at risk” to protect the former president.
After reports emerged that a protester was shot dead in an assassination attempt, Cuban wrote: “This is heartbreaking. I wish there was some way we could help support this man and his family.”
Cuba also warned its followers and social media users to be aware of scams perpetrated by fraudsters who use fake accounts and bots to take advantage of public reaction and sympathy for victims, writing, “When tragedies and horrific events like the attempted assassination of former President Trump occur, it gives rise to accounts that make things worse and are deceptive.”

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon
“We are deeply saddened by the political violence and assassination attempt on former President Trump last night,” JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon wrote in a message to all JPMorgan Chase employees on Sunday, according to a statement. report by CNBC.
“On behalf of our entire leadership team, our thoughts today are with the former President, his family, and the families of those who were tragically wounded and killed,” Dimon continued. “We must stand united against any act of hate, intimidation, or violence that seeks to undermine our democracy or cause harm. Only through constructive dialogue can we overcome our nation’s greatest challenges.”

Billionaire Amazon founder and entrepreneur Jeff Bezos, who has clashed with Trump over political issues in the past decade, praised the former president’s response to the assassination attempt in a post on X.
“Our former President showed incredible grace and courage under real pressure tonight. So grateful for his safety and so heartbroken for the victims and their families,” Bezos wrote Saturday on X.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wrote in a post Saturday, “It’s hard to digest what happened in Pennsylvania today. It’s horrific. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. Glad that President Trump is safe and wishing him a speedy recovery.”
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
“There is no place for violence of any kind in our society. I extend my best wishes to President Trump for a speedy recovery and to all those affected by today’s horrific events,” Nadella wrote on X.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk – who recently donated to a super PAC supporting former President Trump, according to a Bloomberg report – announced his support for Trump’s presidential campaign after the assassination attempt.
“I fully support President Trump and hope he recovers quickly,” Musk wrote Saturday in a post on X.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, posted on Instagram’s instant messaging app Threads: “Praying for President Trump’s speedy recovery. This is a very sad day for our country. Political violence undermines democracy and must always be condemned.”

The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, released a statement on Sunday about the assassination attempt:
“The assassination attempt on former President Trump was horrific. We are grateful that former President Trump was not seriously injured, and are thinking of all the innocent bystanders and victims of this horrific act, especially the man who was killed. As our leadership team shared with colleagues last night, BlackRock strongly condemns political violence in any form and will do our part to promote civility and unity in this country.”
The statement also explained Crooks’ appearance in an ad the company produced two years ago: “In 2022, we aired an ad featuring a teacher from Bethel Park High School, in which several unpaid students appear briefly in the background, including Thomas Matthew Crooks. We will provide all footage of the video to the appropriate authorities, and we have removed the video from circulation out of respect for the victims.”

Investor Bill Ackman
Billionaire Bill Ackman, founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, wrote a lengthy post on X announcing that he is supporting former President Trump in this year’s presidential election.
“I made this decision some time ago as many of @X’s followers have understood from my posts supporting Trump and my criticism of @POTUS Biden,” Ackman wrote. “The reason I haven’t done so formally is because I wanted to explain my thinking in detail and respond to the arguments put forward by others opposing Trump.”
He added that he planned to explain his reasons for supporting Trump in a “long” piece but “I didn’t have the time or feel the need” to write it before the assassination attempt.

Chamber of Commerce
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest business trade group, released a statement Saturday saying: “We are relieved to hear that President Trump is safe following the shooting at his rally, and we are deeply saddened by the impact on innocent attendees, including the tragic loss of life. There is no place in our democracy for acts of violence. Now more than ever, we must come together as a country and uphold the democratic values that define us as a nation.”
Business Roundtable
The Business Roundtable, a group of CEOs at some of the nation’s leading companies, released a statement Saturday saying: “We mourn the loss of innocent lives and are relieved that President Trump is safe. We call on all Americans to reject political violence and commit to resolving political differences peacefully.”
