BBC journalist John Hunt and his daughter Amy said “words cannot express” their grief at the deaths of three family members in a crossbow attack.
Hunt, a horse-racing commentator, released a statement alongside his other daughter, Amy, saying the devastation they were experiencing was “indescribable”.
“We’d like to thank you all for the kind messages and support we’ve received over the past few days,” they added.
“These are a great comfort to us and we are very grateful.”
They added that they need time to accept what has happened and “begin the grieving process.”
“We ask that our privacy and that of our family and relatives be respected while this is happening. Thank you.”
Police said Thursday that a crossbow was recovered as the investigation continued.
Memorials were erected around the area throughout the week to commemorate the victims.
A vigil was held at St James Church on Thursday, with more than 50 people attending to pay their respects.
