Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk celebrated former President Trump’s decision to pick Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate on the 2024 Republican national ticket on Monday.
“Congratulations @JDVance1!,” Musk posted on his social media platform, X, after the announcement that Vance would be the Republican vice presidential nominee. “Amazing decision by @realDonaldTrump.”
Musk went on to say the Trump-Vance ticket “sounds triumphant.”
Trump announced Vance’s selection on his social media platform, Truth Social, as the Republican National Convention kicked off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, just two days after the former president survived an assassination attempt.

Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and one of the world’s richest people, publicly supported Trump on Saturday, after gunshots were heard at the former president’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I fully support President Trump and hope he recovers quickly,” Musk wrote on X, alongside a video of the attack.
Trump was shot above his right ear by a gunman later identified by authorities as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, suburbs of pittsburgh about an hour south of where the attempted murder took place.
One participant, Corey Comperatore, 50, a former Buffalo Township fire chief, was killed, and two others — identified by Pennsylvania State Police as David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74 — were wounded in the shooting.
The FBI confirmed that Crooks was shot dead.
