Fight leads to gunshot in lobby of downtown Louisville business
STUDIO TO SHOW US WHAT HAPPENED. RANDALL. WELL, VICKY, YOU KNOW, ANGER MANAGEMENT IS AN IMPORTANT SKILL TO HAVE, BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN OVERCOME EVEN THE SMALLEST PERCEIVED INCONVENIENCE AND SOMETIMES THAT LEADS TO DRAWING A GUN. SHE THREW A SODA AT MY CO-WOMAN. IT STARTED AT THIS CONVENIENCE STORE AT THE INTERSECTION OF FIRST AND JEFFERSON IN DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE. ACCORDING TO POLICE, A CUSTOMER WAS IN AN ALTERCATION WITH A STORE EMPLOYEE. ANOTHER EMPLOYEE, RENATA FRAMPTON, WHO WAS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE CONFRONTATION, EXPLAINS WHAT MAY HAVE LED TO THE DISCUSSION. A WOMAN FROM VISION WORKS WENT INTO THE STORE, ANGERED THAT MY COLLEAGUE WAS REQUIRED TO SCAN HER ID TO PURCHASE TOBACCO PRODUCTS. THE CUSTOMER THEN LEFT THE STORE AND ACCORDING TO POLICE, WENT TO THIS BUILDING LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY. THE STORE CLERK REPORTEDLY FOLLOWED HER, AND A SECOND CONFRONTATION BEGAN AT A PARTICULAR POINT DURING THE EXCHANGE, A SHOT WAS FIRED IN THE LOBBY. THE BULLET MISSED AND ENDED UP IN A WALL. THE CONVENIENCE STORE EMPLOYEE THEN RETURNED TO WORK, WHERE SHE WAS WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED. SO FAR, HOWEVER, NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE. FRAMPTON, WHO HAS WORKED THERE FOR SEVEN YEARS, SAYS VIOLENT EPISODES STILL OCCUR AT THIS LOCATION. I’VE BEEN BITTEN BY A CUSTOMER. I HAD TO GO GET A TETANUS SHOT, GET A TEST AND EVERYTHING. I’M TRYING TO PUNCH HER AFTER SHE’S DONE, THE LMPD SPOKESMAN TOLD ME. DETECTIVES ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THE WOMAN WHO SHOT THE GUN AGAIN. NO ONE HAS BEEN REQUIRED TO INVESTIGATE HER.
