With beautiful beaches, stunning fall foliage and small-town charm, New England is one of the world’s best travel destinations.
And we have the hotels to prove it.
When Travel + Leisure magazine released its list of the 100 best hotels in the world, only 16 were from the United States, and of those 16, four are in New England.
The list is based on a 2024 survey of more than 186,000 T+L readers, with more than 700,000 votes cast across more than 8,700 properties, including resort hotels, city hotels, inns and safari lodges.
Winnetu Oceanside Resort, Martha’s Vineyard
Winnetu Oceanside Resort was ranked 16th on the Top 100 Hotels list with a reader score of 99.0.
“This family-owned property on Martha’s Vineyard draws attention for its ‘spectacular location’ boasting 11 acres of private beach, great family programming and menu options at The Dunes Restaurant,” the resort’s listing states.
The hotel also announced that it had been ranked number one on its list of top resorts in New England.
Candleberry Inn in Brewster
Candleberry Inn, a cozy Brewster inn on the Cape, ranked 30th on the list with a reader score of 98.67.
“Boasting ‘simple elegance,’ Candleberry Inn offers a comfortable stay in a historic mansion in the heart of Cape Cod, providing a quintessential New England experience,” the Candleberry entry reads.

Nolum Vega, Camden, Maine
Norum Vega was ranked 52nd with a reader score of 98.32.
“Formally restored in May 2023, this 11-room inn is set in a fairytale chateau originally built in 1887 and is a year-round destination. Readers were drawn to the perfectly crafted cocktails, luxurious rooms, and staff’s ‘attention to detail,'” Norumbega’s entry reads.
Quicisana Resort in Lovell, Maine
Quisisana Resort was ranked 85th, receiving a score of 97.77 from our readers.
“Sleep beneath the Maine pine trees, enjoy live performances from our talented staff, and enjoy stand-up paddleboarding at the all-inclusive Quisisana,” the resort’s entry reads.
