Hello Kitty and Adidas add highly sought-after new kids’ sneakers to store shelves
Adidas has been collaborating with Sanrio’s popular character Hello Kitty on a number of footwear projects this summer, and this time it will be releasing a new series of children’s-sized shoes with the brand.
Hello Kitty’s new realistic cat collection now available at PetSmart
The collection will be rolled out nationwide by PetSmart, the largest pet store chain in the United States (Statista, March 2023). Harness sizes are extra small (neck: 9.5-11 inches, chest: 12-14.5 inches), small (11-12 inches, chest: 14.5-16 inches), and medium (12-13.5 inches, chest: 16-18 inches), while adjustable cat collars are available in small (neck: 5.5-8 inches, width: 0.4 inches) and medium (neck: 7.5-12 inches, width: 0.4 inches). PetSmart is currently running a “Buy 1, Get 2 for 50% Off” promotion on all collars, leashes, and harnesses.
The cat accessories come at an ironic time for Hello Kitty fans. The news that Hello Kitty is not a cat shocked fans and made headlines around the world. Senior executive Jill Cook recently said about the popular Sanrio character, “No, she’s not a cat! She’s actually a little girl born and raised outside of London!” She also has a cat called Charmy Kitty, so it’s entirely possible that Hello Kitty has something similar to Sassy Woof’s new collection. Charmy Kitty was recently discontinued as Sanrio’s mascot along with 15 other characters.
