IMOTO, an Indonesia-based smart electric mobility service provider, has introduced its electric motorcycle, VISION.ev, to the global market.
IMOTO said in a statement on Tuesday that VISION.ev will be Indonesia’s first electric motorcycle, which aims to achieve a domestic content level (TKDN) of more than 75 percent and is scheduled to be launched in 2025.
“We hope VISION.ev will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global electric vehicle (EV) market,” said Antony Lesmana, co-founder of IMOTO Indonesia.
He said VISION.ev reflects the company’s commitment to promoting national innovations to international markets.
“By manufacturing everything locally, from the bike design to the fast-charging batteries, we can achieve TKDN’s target of at least 75 percent,” he added.
Indonesia currently faces serious pollution problems, especially in big cities, with pollution reducing the average person’s life expectancy by 2.5 years, the statement said.
The biggest contributor to this problem is the transport sector.
But the country is at a tipping point for EVs, with adoption predicted to grow by 80 percent over the next six years, pushing the market to more than $20 billion.
A nationwide survey by PwC also found that 50% of respondents plan to buy an e-bike within the next one to three years.
The shift to electric bikes is driven by environmental friendliness, quieter engines, lower maintenance costs and increased government incentives.
“With the various benefits offered by VISION.ev, this eco-friendly product is fast charging,
Battery life, long range, performance,
“This will help accelerate the adoption of EVs. VISION.ev is also the answer for those looking for innovation and sustainability in their driving experience,” said Dodi Lukit, co-founder of IMOTO.
To ensure ease of use, IMOTO is also developing an extensive fast-charging ecosystem.
Public fast-charging stations will be set up at strategic locations within and between cities, with 200 charging points planned in the first phase of the rollout, according to the statement.
IMOTO also said its flagship electric motorcycles promote sustainable lifestyles while offering cutting-edge technology.
The future of Indonesia’s automotive industry is focused on electric vehicles, and the company says it will continue to innovate to develop products and services suitable for electric vehicles.
Delivering cost-effective, carbon-free mobility.
“By continuing to develop fast-charging battery technology and environmentally friendly products, IMOTO is confident of becoming a zero-carbon company by 2035,” Lesmana said.
“Our mission is to provide clean, green, economical and efficient mobility solutions for the people of Indonesia.
“Furthermore, IMOTO is committed to supporting domestic industries by using local materials, creating new jobs and nurturing local talent while developing world-class products in the EV sector,” he added.
