Louisiana Tech University President Jim Henderson is integrating two of the institution’s key external functions, university advancement and its innovation enterprise, under the leadership of a new senior vice president for innovation and advancement and CEO of the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. Dr. Davy Norris has been selected to fill this critical role and provide leadership for the growth and integration of innovation, public-private partnerships, philanthropy and economic development in support of the university.
“Working with the Louisiana Tech University Board of Trustees and Executive Committee over the past six months has leveraged existing resources and personnel. Bringing these entities together promises significant benefits for our entire university community, our business partners, the city of Ruston and the regional economy,” said President Jim Henderson. “Davy is a dedicated leader who has a proven track record of attracting partnerships that will continue to advance Louisiana Tech’s mission.”
Norris led Louisiana Tech’s Innovation Enterprise as the university’s chief innovation officer for more than a decade. During his tenure, the university opened Tech Pointe I and Tech Pointe II, buildings that house 18 tenant companies that regularly draw on student and faculty resources to improve their business outcomes.
“Our university is well positioned to build on the success of the Innovation Enterprise and the impact of our exceptional development team,” Norris said. “Integrating these operations will not only strengthen our philanthropic reach, but will also enable us to pursue diverse business engagements that enhance partnerships, expand experiential learning opportunities, catalyze new research collaborations and drive economic growth in the community and region.”
The senior vice president will lead these critical functions with support from the University’s chief development officer and chief innovation officer. Lisa Bradley, who served as interim vice president for advancement, will resume her role as associate vice president and chief financial officer of the Foundation.
“We appreciate Lisa’s steadfast leadership over the past year and a half,” added President Henderson. “She will continue to play a vital role in the success of our promotion business.”
Norris’ new role takes effect July 1.
