Donald Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon and was rushed off the stage with blood running from his ear and cheek.
Revealed by audio How the chaotic shootout unfolded From the perspective of President Trump and those involved in getting him to safety: Several shots ring out as President Trump speaks. He ducks, clutching his ears, and Secret Service agents surround him. “Get down, get down, get down,” one says. More shots ring out, and a woman screams.
Several Secret Service agents can be heard, one saying “Up!” and another saying “The stairs are ready, the stairs are ready.” Trump can also be heard, but his words are unclear. More agents come onto the stage, some carrying assault rifles. Trump supporters in the background look shocked, some filming with their cellphones.
After hearing that the shooter was down, President Trump and the agents rose to their feet.
TRUMP: “Get me my shoes, get me my shoes.”
Male Agent: “Okay, okay.”
TRUMP: “Let me get your shoes.”
Another male agent: “Hold on, your head is bleeding.”
Male Agent: “Sir, we need to move to the car.”
TRUMP: “Let me get your shoes.”
Female Agent “OK,” I say, before saying anything about the shoes.
TRUMP: “Wait, wait, wait,” he said, pumping his fist into the crowd, then said “fight” three times, as the crowd erupted in cheers.
As the crowd chanted “USA. USA. USA,” Trump and his Secret Service team left the podium and headed to their cars.
