New Fox News polls in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina reveal that there is no clear leader in any of these key battleground states.
In Arizona, VP Kamala Harris has a 50% approval rating compared to former President Donald Trump’s 49% in a survey of registered voters. In Georgia and Nevada, Harris has a 50% approval rating compared to Trump’s 48%, and in North Carolina, Trump has a 50% approval rating compared to Harris’ 49%. The margin of error for each state poll is plus or minus 3 percentage points, meaning there is no clear leader in any election.
Remember: In each state, Harris improved her support for President Joe Biden in terms of overall approval ratings and in being trusted to address key issues compared to the previous Fox poll.
But she still trails Trump by 6 to 9 points in all four states when it comes to trusting him to handle economic policy, a central issue in each state’s election.
Things get more complicated when voters are asked which candidate is better at “fighting for people like you” or “bringing about needed change.” When it comes to fighting for people like you, Harris leads in Nevada (51% Harris, 46% Trump), Georgia (50% Harris, 46% Trump) and Arizona (51% Harris, 47% Trump), but they’re nearly neck and neck in North Carolina (49% Harris, 48% Trump).
And in terms of who would bring about the most needed change in each state, the two candidates are roughly evenly matched (Harris 50% to Trump 47% in Georgia and Nevada; Harris 50% to Trump 48% in Arizona; and Trump 49% to Harris 48% in North Carolina).
In both Arizona and Nevada, polls show Democratic Senate candidates leading Republicans: In Nevada, incumbent Democrat Jacky Rosen is leading Republican Sam Brown 55% to 41%, and in Arizona, Democrat Ruben Gallego is leading Republican Kali Lake 56% to 41%.
The survey was conducted by telephone and online from August 23 to 26 among approximately 1,000 voters in each state.
