Independent board game maker Hecktic Media has released its first game to the public, letting you enjoy the fun of summer travel with Travel HunterThis is a game centered around traveling around the world, created by Dalene and Pete Heckwho were voted National Geographic Travelers of the Year in 2014. After traveling to over 60 countries in 8 years, their adventures inspired them to create this new tabletop card game, as they incorporated many of their own real-life travel experiences into the game. After selling out in less than three weeks in Canada, they expanded the title to a more international audience. We have more information on the game below as it is sold on their website and Amazon for $30.
Travel Hunter
Prove who is the most skilled traveler by buying, trading, and gambling your way to various destinations. The harder a destination is to reach from North America, the more points it is worth! Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins bragging rights for life. The more destinations you visit (up to 11!), the more points you accumulate. Beware of travel mishaps that can trip you up (pun intended) along the way, and consider taking out insurance to protect yourself.
-
Objective:Players must travel to different destinations and earn points based on how difficult it is to reach each location from North America. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
-
Gameplay:On their turn, players draw cards, make trades, and decide whether to travel or stay home. Traveling requires combining destination cards and money, with the option to purchase travel insurance to avoid negative events (and there are many!)
-
End of Game:The game ends when there are no more Destination cards available. Players tally up points for completed journeys, with bonus points awarded for the most unique journeys and destinations. The highest score wins.
