Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley will be speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee after all. Her spokesperson says she’s scheduled to take the stage on Tuesday.
Haley has been taking small steps toward supporting Trump, and speaking at the Republican National Convention would mean a total capitulation to Trump’s dominance within the party.
Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley served as ambassador to the United Nations under Trump before running for the Republican nomination.
When Haley dropped her candidacy earlier this year, she said she wasn’t sure whether she would support Trump. She later announced that she would vote for him.
Haley announced last week that she had called on the party’s 97 delegates to vote for her at the convention.
At the time, a spokesman said Haley had not been invited but was “okay with that” but wished Trump well. Now, two sources familiar with her plans say Haley plans to speak at the Republican National Convention.
After Trump survived the assassination attempt on Saturday, Haley expressed her horror at the attack and said she was “praying for President Donald Trump.”
