resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo joined a long list of world leaders to condemn the attack that injured Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s ear.
Trump, 78, was shot in the ear just minutes into a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, causing panic among the rally crowd and prompting Secret Service agents to remove him.
Following the incident, President Jokowi took to social media platform X to condemn the violence and wished President Trump a speedy recovery.
“I am deeply shocked and saddened by today’s shooting incident against former President Donald Trump. Violence in any form has no place in democracies around the world,” he said Sunday afternoon.
“We offer our prayers for his speedy and full recovery and for all those affected by this attack,” he added.

A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the incident as an “act of political violence”, while Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said “we must take a firm stance against any form of violence that challenges democracy”, AFP reported.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was “appalled by the shocking scenes” at the rally, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said there was “no justification” for such violence, according to Reuters.
