The Baltimore Ravens have signed two-time Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.
Jackson was waived by the Chicago Bears on Feb. 15 to free up salary cap space.
A fourth-round pick in 2017, he started all 100 games he played in over seven seasons with Chicago. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice and was named All-Pro in 2018 as part of the Bears defense that led Chicago to its most recent NFC North division title.
Jackson’s time was cut short the past three seasons due to foot injuries, but he still appeared in at least 12 games per year starting in 2021-22.
The 30-year-old Jackson has 15 interceptions, 44 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles and 459 tackles in his career. He is tied for third-most in Bears franchise history with six defensive touchdowns, five of which have come in his first two seasons.
After two seasons without an interception (2020-21), Jackson moved from strong safety to free safety after Chicago drafted Ja’Quan Brisker in 2022. During a bounce-back season in 2022, Jackson led the Bears with four interceptions in 12 games and became the defensive leader after Chicago traded linebacker Roquan Smith to Baltimore and defensive end Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jackson recorded one interception and 37 tackles in 12 games last season. He will now join a safeties group that includes Kyle Hamilton, a first-team All-Pro selection last season, and veteran Marcus Williams.
