The popular series inspired by the anime RWBY has found a new home at North America’s largest manga licensor. The series is currently in exciting talks with VIZ Media for a highly anticipated sequel.
Via RWBYKerry Shawcross, showrunner and co-creator of X (formerly Twitter), along with voice actress Barbara Dunkelman (Yang Xiao Long), revealed that the franchise is alive and well at VIZ Media. VIZ will be responsible for production, distribution, licensing and consumer products for the series, and it was revealed that the series could return for future stories. “As you can see,” Shawcross says, “this is a huge opportunity to grow our audience and expand into the future. In talking to VIZ, they’re very excited about it as well.” They obviously care about the future of the show, but they also care about where it came from. And they want to make sure that we can continue that story.”

RWBY Now In Talks For Series Continuation After Rooster Teeth Shutdown
Shawcross added: “We are currently in discussions with them about this. RWBY“The future of , and we are very optimistic about what lies ahead for this beloved series.” RWBYRooster Teeth’s fate has been left up in the air after its studio closed. The move reportedly came after Warner Bros. tried to find a buyer for the studio. Rooster Teeth CEO Jordan Levin added that the closure was due to “the challenges facing digital media due to fundamental changes in consumer behavior and monetization across platforms, advertising, and sponsorship.”
Fans had good reason to be excited even before the announcement. RWBY The official account had hinted that something was coming, with voice actress Lindsay Jones, who voices Ruby Rose, the series’ titular protagonist, coyly quoting “👀👀👀.” The significance of VIZ’s partnership with RWBY cannot be underestimated; the company is the largest manga distributor in North America, with Circana Bookscan’s data on the best-selling manga in America in 2023 revealing that VIZ accounted for 57% of all sales. Next in line were Kodansha and Yen Press with 13%.

Rooster teeth animations RWBY is a 3DCG series inspired by the anime, first released in 2013 and currently running for nine seasons. Popular animation studio SHAFT animated the spin-off series, RWBY: The Ice Kingdom, which reinterpreted the events of previous seasons and aired on Crunchyroll. RWBY The series is currently not streaming on any platform but can be purchased on demand.
