Planning on catching a flight anytime soon? Instead of heading north to one of the bigger airports in New England, you might want to consider Rhode Island TF Green International Airport, according to Travel + Leisure.
Readers of the online travel magazine have chosen Warwick’s TF Green Airport as the second best airport in the country as part of its annual World’s Best Awards survey. This is the latest accolade and a step forward for the airport, which last year came in third in the Conde Nast Traveler readers’ choice for best airport in the country.
The results of each World’s Best list are based on a reader survey, with nominees rated across a series of categories: for airports, readers rated access, check-in and security, restaurants and bars, shopping and the overall airport design.
The average of the criteria ratings is used to determine an airport’s final score and ranking. TF Green received 82.31 points.
What did our readers like?
While the airport has everything it takes to provide a pleasant experience, including minimal crowds and queues, exceptional cleanliness, and easy parking, what really appealed to voters were the restrooms.
“The restrooms are great! It seems like a small thing, but as a frequent traveler, the large stalls with doors for privacy and the sinks with integrated taps and dryers are a real bonus. Plus, there were live plants and fresh flowers by each sink, so I felt like someone was looking out for my well-being,” one voter wrote. “Probably the best experience I’ve had in 30 years as a travel consultant.”
