ScotRail is urging TRNSMT festival goers to confirm their travel in advance as there will be “significantly reduced services”.
The company last week cut around 600 jobs to maintain “certainty and credibility” after four unions rejected pay proposals.
ScotRail spokesman David Ross told BBC Scotland the temporary timetable would be in place “for at least the next few weeks”.
Kevin Lindsay, from Asleep Scotland, has previously warned that train drivers were likely to launch industrial action over ScotRail’s “exorbitant” pay offer.
ScotRail said it was “fully committed” to further discussions with unions.
TRNSMT, Scotland’s biggest music festival, is expected to draw around 50,000 people to Glasgow Green each weekend.
The festival kicked off on Friday with Liam Gallagher headlining the main stage, with performances throughout the day from Sugababes, The Last Dinner Party and Example.
Jerry Cinnamon and Calvin Harris will headline on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The festival starts at noon each day and ends late at night.
Mr Ross told BBC Scotland News: “TRNSMT are running fewer services than usual late at night so please check before travelling and consider alternative travel arrangements.”
“We have reduced service on all routes and are running approximately 50 per cent of our normal Sunday schedule,” Ross added.
“Drivers are not complying with their contractual right to work on holidays.”
ScotRail said the temporary measures would mean around 1,660 trains would run from Monday to Saturday.
These include routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow, but there will also be significant cuts to routes north along the central belt.
Mr Ross said the provisional timetable was being kept under constant review, adding: “Where we are able to provide additional services we are doing so”.
“For example, we have a big special event planned for next week, like an opening, where there will be extra services and extra carriages for passengers.
“We will be in discussions with the unions over the coming weeks because everyone wants to get this resolved and lift this interim timeline. We hope to see some progress in the coming weeks.”
As a result, hundreds of services were cancelled and the rail network was brought to a halt across much of the country.
The listed company said it was looking to hire 160 new train drivers to improve reliability.
