The Trojans will depart for San Jose on Thursday, July 18th, where they will spend three days before heading to Los Sueños for the final four days of their trip.
On the court, with the NCAA approving 10 extra practices, the Trojans are scheduled to play two teams in Roswell (July 19) and the Costa Rican national team (July 20), while off the court, the Trojans will be volunteering at an orphanage and hosting clinics for children.
Troy’s Costa Rica trip emphasizes opportunities to immerse players, coaches and staff in Costa Rican culture. During their stay in San Jose, Troy’s players will explore the capital city before visiting coffee plantations and the waterfalls of La Paz. Afterwards, the women’s basketball team will take part in ATV, horseback riding and private catamaran tours in Los Sueños.
“The opportunity to experience Costa Rican culture was priceless and I will be forever grateful that Troy University afforded me, my staff and my team this enriching experience,” Rigby said.
Women’s basketball enters the 2024-25 season with its first-ever postseason win in the WNIT and a Fab Four berth. The team will begin the new season with new roster in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 4 in Buffalo, N.Y. Three of the 13 players from the 2023-24 season will return.
