Hours after the shooting during a rally in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump confirmed in a social media post that he had been hit in the ear during the incident.
“I want to thank the United States Secret Service, and all Law Enforcement, for their swift response to the shooting that just occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “Most importantly, I want to send my condolences to the family of the person who was killed in the protest, and also to the family of the others who were seriously injured.”
He added: “It is incredible that such an act could happen in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who has now passed away. I was shot with a bullet that went through the top of my right ear. I knew right away that something was wrong because I heard a whoosh, a gunshot, and immediately felt the bullet pierce my skin. There was a lot of bleeding, so I realized at that moment what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
