Asked whether Biden was reevaluating his position on the race, Fulks reiterated that the president was determined to move forward, but noted the race was likely to be close.
“There is no plan to replace President Biden and President Biden knows this is a margin of error. People are acting as if we said before the debate that the Democrats were going to win by a landslide. We have always said this is going to be a close race. We know it’s a margin of error in every battleground state,” Fulks said.
California Sen. Alex Padilla stressed he believes Biden will continue to campaign, but noted the election is likely to be decided by a close margin.
“As far as the race goes, no one is predicting a landslide victory in any direction in November. It was very close four years ago and it’s going to be very close in November,” Padilla said.
Asked how Democrats would counter a united Republican front supporting Trump, Fulks called on Democrats to support Biden and said the stakes in the election were the stark contrast between Biden’s and Trump’s policies.
“We have to come together to fight this, and the sooner we start talking about this issue, what’s at stake, what we’ve heard over the first three days of this convention and what we’re going to hear from Donald Trump tonight, the better off we’ll be,” Fulks said.
