WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a UCLA student in her dorm room on campus, authorities said.
Jeffery Brewer, 41, was arrested Friday night.
According to a statement from the UCLA Police Department, he entered the room at Saxon Residential Suites in the 300 block of De Neve Drive around 2:40 a.m. Friday, where he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman while she was in bed.
Brewer then left the room in an unknown direction. The woman was “medically treated on scene,” the statement said.
“Investigators quickly found leads and, after a day of searching, officers located and apprehended the suspect around 9:45 p.m.,” the statement read. “The victim and two witnesses formally identified the suspect.”
Brewer was arrested on charges of assault with intent to commit a felony, unlawful confinement, burglary and forcible sexual penetration, campus police said.
He is currently being held at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Reception Center, where his bail is set at more than $1 million. Eyewitness News has learned that campus police arrested Brewer in July 2023 on a misdemeanor charge, according to inmate records.
