Vita and Evoy, two experts in marine electric propulsion, have announced their intention to merge their respective businesses in order to “consolidate their leading positions in the field of high-efficiency engines”. The two companies bring together a wealth of experience in the field of all-electric propulsion and powertrain technology in the marine sector.
We only cover a small part of the marine mobility segment, as it is only just beginning to electrify. However, the pace at which this transition is happening is certainly encouraging. While not all shipbuilders are going electric, companies like Vita and Evoy have helped bring an exciting new level of sustainability to sea travel.
Vita may ring a bell, as we’ve talked about the marine technology company’s advanced powertrains, including its collaboration with Maserati and its all-electric day boat TRIDENTE. Vita is also a partner with fast-charger developer Aqua superPower for boats.
Evoy is a new name to many of you readers, but as one of today’s leaders in performance inboard and outboard electric boat motor systems, it’s a name to remember… unless there’s a name change following today’s announcement of Evoy’s business integration with Vita.
Vita and Evoy join forces to further electrify the marine space
Vita and Evoy both shared details of their merger earlier today. The new company aims to establish itself as the European leader in high-power inboard and outboard electric marine propulsion.
By combining their businesses and technologies, Vita and Evoy say they will be able to scale faster, resulting in lower prices for consumers, accelerating the adoption of electric marine while expanding to new markets in Europe and North America. According to the release:
Vita’s experience in integrating high-performance electric propulsion into a diverse portfolio of vessels, from commercial RIBs to superyacht tenders, combined with Evoy’s plug-and-play powertrain technology and scalable production platform, will enable the new group to leverage fourteen years of combined experience. Together, Vita and Evoy are able to deliver market-leading products, based on the shared belief that high-efficiency systems with DC charging capability present the most robust solutions for the widest range of marine applications.
The two companies also said the new marine technology group would benefit from a funding round led by existing Vita shareholders and Evoy investors. It is not yet clear whether the merger includes a name change or whether Vita and Evoy will continue to operate as separate entities under the same larger group.
