WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Commission will consider approving a letter of intent to the state of Minnesota to transfer ownership of the 16-bed mental health hospital in the 1200 block of Olena Avenue Southeast in Willmar to the state at the July 18 county commission meeting.
Currently, the state leases the building from the county, and at a July 2 board meeting, County Administrator Kelsey Baker proposed the county transfer the facility to the state, citing challenges with paying back maintenance on the building.
The County Commission meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, July 18. The commission typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, but due to scheduling issues, the meeting has been rescheduled for July 18.
The commission will also consider approving a conditional use permit for Lang Family Properties/Lang Feeds Inc. to build a refrigerated warehouse with a loading dock and a store/warehouse with a car wash on a business site in Roseland Township. The Kandiyohi County Planning Commission has recommended approval of the permit.
Secretary Baker will provide a FY2025 budget update.
Community Corrections Director Tami Jo Lieberg will give a Community Corrections update and ask the board to approve a proclamation declaring July 21-27 as Pretrial, Probation and Probationary Release Supervision Week.
Following the board meeting, commissioners will tour the Prairie Lakes Youth Programs facility.
