UC Davis Medical Center has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading hospitals for providing excellent patient care, according to the prestigious U.S. News & World Report 2024-2025 Best Hospitals survey.
UC Davis Medical Center is the region’s only comprehensive Level 1 trauma center serving both adult and pediatric patients and is ranked the #1 hospital in Sacramento and #8 hospital in California. It has been the #1 hospital in Sacramento for at least the past 13 years and has been ranked in the top 10 in the state for over a decade.

Medical Center ranked among the top 50 hospitals nationwide in eight adult specialties
Otolaryngology, ranking 15th, was the medical center’s highest-ranked specialty, followed by geriatrics (24th) and pulmonology and pulmonary surgery (24th).
Five other specialties also ranked in the top 50 in the nation: Neurology and Neurosurgery (28th), Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (35th), Cancer (37th), Orthopedics (39th), and Diabetes and Endocrinology (41st).

U.S. News also rated the medical center’s gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery services as “high performing,” meaning the hospital ranked in the top 10 percent of all hospitals evaluated in these specialties.
UC Davis Medical Center also received the highest rating of “superior performance” for the quality of care in 14 common adult procedures and conditions.

The magazine’s team of data journalists analyzes millions of hospital visits and hospitalizations to identify the best hospitals in 15 adult specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. U.S. News also publishes an Honor Roll, recognizing hospitals that perform exceptionally well in many of these specialties, procedures and conditions.
