tempo, Jakarta – The University of Indonesia (UI) has denied allegations that data from its Center for Independent Learning (CIL) was hacked and sold on BreachForums, as reported by cybersecurity firm FalconFeeds.io on social media platform X.
The university’s Director of Public Information and Transparency (KIP) Office, Amelita Lucia, said they had received many questions regarding the data breach report.
“According to the report, the data leak includes personal information such as registration numbers, identity card numbers, names, place of birth, date of birth, gender, height, weight, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, educational background and employment history,” Amelita said when confirmed on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Amelita said the university conducted a thorough investigation as soon as it learned of the potential data breach.
“So far, there is no indication that any data stored in UI’s systems has been compromised, including data from the Independent Learning Centres that were photographed on social media platforms,” she said.
Amer said the posts about the data leak referred to CIL and had caused public concern. “In fact, no data leak has been found from our various systems, including CIL,” Amer said.
“This incident has served as a catalyst for us to strengthen the cybersecurity of UI’s data and information systems, for which we are grateful,” Amer said.
