BYD announced the launch of the BYD M6 pure electric MPV at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on July 21. This is BYD’s first MPV model to be launched in the Indonesian market, and also the first pure electric MPV in the Indonesian market. Consumers can choose from three trims: Standard 7-seater, Superior 7-seater, and Superior Captain 6-seater. Prices range from RP379 million to RP429 million (USD23,400 to USD26,500).

The BYD M6 comes standard with a 55.4kWh or 71.8kWh BYD Blade battery, which offers an NEDC range of 420km and 530km, respectively. A 115kW fast charge can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes. Additionally, the entry-level trim is equipped with an electric motor that produces a maximum output of 163hp and a maximum torque of 310Nm. The high-end Superior trim is equipped with an electric motor that produces 204hp and has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 10.1 seconds and 8.6 seconds, respectively.
It is worth noting that the BYD M6 is developed based on the BYD Song Max (specs here), and its appearance is similar to the BYD e6. Since 2010, the BYD e6 has been focused on the taxi market. In appearance, the front face of the BYD M6 adopts a large sealed area integrated with thin headlights connected by a chrome strip with the BYD logo embedded in the center.

Previously, a right-hand drive version of the BYD M6 was spotted on the roads of China without camouflage. At the rear, the taillights are adorned with a horizontally stretched chrome strip and have the “BYD M6” logo in the bottom right corner. The BYD M6 measures 4710/1810/1690 mm and has a wheelbase of 2800 mm.
The interior of the BYD M6 comes in a six-seater and seven-seater layout. The dashboard comes with a 12.8-inch rotating touch screen, features the BYD DiLink system, and supports CarPlay. Other standard configurations include keyless entry, one-button start, automatic climate control, cruise control, six airbags, and electronic stability control. Additionally, the higher-end trims also come with a panoramic sunroof, front seat ventilation, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring. The standard trunk capacity is 652 L.
