Vermont Business Magazine Community Health of Rutland, the largest of Vermont’s 12 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), will celebrate National Medical Center Week from Aug. 4 to 10. On Aug. 7, our staff will be instructing patients in all of our medical clinics on how to connect with their providers through our patient portal, one of many services offered to provide clarity, equity and service to patients in their care by allowing them to access their medical information remotely.
National Health Center Week’s theme, “Energizing Communities Through Caring Connections,” highlights the important role that community health centers like Community Health play in improving public health. Community Health provides medical, dental, behavioral health, pediatric, express care and pharmacy services to everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
“The reason we’ve been so successful for over 20 years is because we have had a great leadership team dedicated to serving the community with a mission: to ensure that everyone who comes through our doors receives the best care we can provide,” said Community Health CEO Mike Gardner. “As an FQHC, we’re able to offer sliding fee and discounted care. In 2023, we provided approximately $750,000 worth of uncompensated care and treated 47,000 patients.” (See our 2023 Annual Report for more details.)
With a mission to “provide accessible, quality collaborative care so everyone can live their best life and build stronger communities,” Community Health supports the workplace of more than 450 skilled health care professionals providing the highest quality services to primarily rural communities. Our job training and workplace programs provide career development opportunities in medical, behavioral health and dental.
Do you have portal power?
Visit one of our Community Health locations during Community Health Center Week on August 7 to learn about the power of the Patient Portal. At our primary care clinics in Brandan, Castleton, Metwee, Rutland and Shorewell, staff will be available from 9am to 4pm to answer questions and help individuals and families gain secure, self-directed online access to certain medical records. From their home computer or mobile phone, the portal allows patients to:
- Send and receive non-urgent messages
- Request a booking
- Request a medication refill
- View test results
- Print medical records
- Notify providers of changes to your insurance or contact information
- Review and pay your invoice
If you have any questions regarding the Portal, please call 833-My-Portl (833-697-6785).
