Michael “Mike” Roussos will step down as president of VCU Medical Center next month as he has accepted an opportunity to serve as executive vice chancellor, academic hospital president and CEO of the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center campus at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas.
Roussos first began working at VCU Medical Center in late 2021, when VCU Health and much of the country was still battling the pandemic. His last day at VCU Health is Aug. 14.
“Mike’s leadership has been instrumental in the success of our health system. Under his leadership, our medical center has experienced record growth, advocating for the need to expand services with a new inpatient building, improving efficiency and standards of care across all hospitals, enhancing the wellness and engagement of our team members, and establishing pharmacy strategy and leadership,” said Marlon Levy, M.D., interim CEO of VCU Health and interim vice president of VCU Health Sciences. “Mike is returning home to Texas, and our health system will undoubtedly be stronger as a direct result of his management skills and collaborative leadership style.”
During his time at the health system, Roussos worked collaboratively with clinical provider leadership to strengthen collaboration between the School of Medicine, MCV physicians and medical centers through a shared vision and goals.
