Providence is part of the Workforce Exploration Program
Providence Humboldt and the Humboldt County Office of Education’s Career and College Resources Department celebrated the completion of an intensive workforce exploration program, the Health-Careers Exploration Summer Institute (HESI), hosted by Providence community health leaders and caregivers, Providence announced in a news release last week.
HESI is a free, three-week summer program sponsored by the Humboldt County Office of Education’s Career and College Resources Department. The program provides high school students with the opportunity to explore various health care careers, gain hands-on experience, and determine their interest in the health care field.
“HESI provides a unique opportunity for local students to explore various aspects of health care and interact with professionals in the field,” said Megan Freitas, work-integrated learning specialist for the Humboldt County Office of Education, in a prepared statement. “This exposure not only helps them determine their future career paths, but also encourages them to use their skills to serve our local community as future health care professionals.”
HESI students and faculty gathered on July 3 for final presentations highlighting the knowledge and skills students have gained throughout the program. The program concluded with a celebration of their hard work and dedication to exploring careers in health care.
