NORTHERN KENTUCKY (WXIX) — It’s Labor Day weekend, which means travelers may want to be patient as lines and wait times will be longer.
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport said it expects about 160,000 passengers over the seven-day period, an 8 percent increase from last year.
Mindy Kirschner of CVG said early morning flights tend to draw the most volume.
“When demand for travel is high, there’s capacity, there’s cheaper airfares, so whether you’re traveling by air or by road or whatever, you have to be prepared for busier travel,” Kirchner explained.
The most popular destinations for the holiday weekend include Orlando, Denver and Las Vegas, but Kirschner said many passengers are taking advantage of British Airways’ new London service.

One tip that domestic travelers should follow is to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight departs, while for international flights, three hours is usually the best time.
Additionally, travelers will need to download the airline’s app and check in before arriving at the airport.
Barbara Ziti is one of hundreds of thousands of people flying out of CVG for Labor Day.
“I’m going to a conference in New York,” Ziti told FOX19 NOW. “The reason I’m going is because they have their annual conference. [with] “The United Methodist Church. It’s in New York this year, so I’m looking forward to going.”
Ziti said she had stayed overnight in Northern Kentucky the night before because she thought it would be too crowded.
Travelers can also check TSA wait times online before arriving at CVG.
