Mishawaka-based Franciscan Health and the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon this week to celebrate the grand opening of Franciscan Health’s new building in La Porte. The expansion created eight new jobs.
The new location at 400 Legacy Plaza West offers the services of an orthopedic surgeon’s office from the Franciscan Physician Network. It also houses the institution’s WorkingWell program and a HEALTHeACCESS office.
“We are excited to be able to provide these services in this location for the La Porte community and beyond,” Dean Mazzoni, president of Franciscan Health Michigan City, said in a news release. “Our newest La Porte location provides patients and the business community with easy access to additional Franciscan Health services right here in their own backyard.”
Thomas Magill, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Franciscan Physician Network, will care for patients at the new site. His clinical interests include upper and lower extremity sports surgery, hand surgery, shoulder, knee and hip joint reconstruction, and fracture surgery.
The WorkingWell office provides medical care to business and industry, with a primary focus on working closely with employers to ensure employees are doing well. This is the 17th location, with 16 in Indiana and one in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Services include drug and alcohol screenings, DOT physical exams, injury treatment, fitness for duty evaluations, injury prevention programs, medical clearance evaluations, vaccinations and immunizations, health risk assessments, respirator fit testing and wellness exams.
HEALTHeACCESS is a community clinic program that provides a large network of conveniently located clinics, expanded access to primary/urgent care for participating businesses, and enhanced wellness and disease management programs. The program operates on a fixed monthly fee basis for its functional medicine and wellness portal programs.
WorkingWell and HEALTHeACCESS offices are open 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.
